Earlier this year we worked alongside KDM group to install specialist fencing for an Amazon Site in the Northeast of England. The site in Darlington has been chosen to trial drone deliveries ahead of a potential national rollout… but before they could start, they needed the right fencing for the Job.

The Challenge

The fencing was unique; we needed to help create a site that was secure, accessible and, most importantly. Wouldn’t interfere with the drone’s performance by blocking radio signals or causing an obstruction. Installing this fence required IPJ installers to work within the 1,500,000 Sqft site causing minimal disruption to the hundreds of staff or to the operations of the facility; the sends thousands of parcels across the North East and wider UK each day.

The Solution

We imported specialist fencing from Europe, with radio transparency certification, ensuring the secure mesh wouldn’t interfere with the drones’ operations. Within the 200 Meters of fencing installed around the 3 drone launch pads, we also included pedestrian turnstiles and sliding vehicle access gates; making the site easily accessible to authorised personal. The 2.4-metre-high fencing included a 45-degree crank ensuring it can’t be easily scaled.
